Video ~ NedFest in Nederland, CO
From NedFest.com
"Nederland, Colorado is a town like no other. Tucked in the Rocky Mountains just west of Boulder, Nederland has a history rich in mining and music. With unique shops, amazing outdoor beauty, friendly locals, and vibrant music scene, Nederland is definitely not your average small town. For those lucky enough to live in Nederland, life is rich and varied and full of character, just like the town itself.
The town was established in 1885 near the Continental Divide in the mountains of southwest Boulder County. Nederland started as a trading post between Ute Indians and European settlers during the 1850s. Its first economic boom came when gold, silver, and tungsten ore were discovered near the rich mines of Caribou, in 1859 and near Eldora in 1875. Today it is better known as a gateway to outdoor recreation in the nearby Indian Peaks Wilderness, Rocky Mountain National Park, Roosevelt National Forest, and the recently established James Peak Wilderness.
Nederland is located 15 miles southwest of Boulder, CO, 38 miles south of Estes Park, CO and 50 miles northwest of Denver. Also located nearby is the former home of the legendary Caribou Ranch recording studio where artists like The Beach Boys, Chicago, Dan Fogelberg, Peter Frampton, Robert Plant, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Elton John, John Lennon, Rod Stewart, Stephen Stills, U2 and Frank Zappa spent time and recorded some of popular music's most legendary albums and singles between 1972 and 1985. Artists like Stephen Still and Dan Fogelberg not only recorded here, but had homes in the area as well.
Nederland remains a sanctuary for music with multiple venues for live music and is home to many musicians in the scene (who also frequent NedFest) including members of Yonder Mountain String Band, The Motet, String Cheese Incident and Leftover Salmon."

In anticipation, the band has released a video of "Do the Right Thing", which is expected to be included on the record. "We are super excited for this album," says keyboardist Todd Stoops. "We’re really evolving as a unit. When we recorded the debut album the group had only been together for a year but now we have this level of comfort and growth that’s evident in the music. "You Get High is a new style hip-hop jam that incorporates what I think sounds like a slow-mo disco stomp. It's soulful and funky at the same time and it's all about the high you feel when listening to good music." - Derek Vincent Smith

NedFest 2012 Announces Dates & Lineup
From NedFest.com
"The 14th annual NedFest - returning August 24-26, 2012 to the Jeff Guercio Memorial Ballfield on the banks of Barker Reservoir in the beautiful high-country town of Nederland, Colorado - is proud to officially announce its artist lineup. Tickets are available now at NedFest.com. With a dependable yearly lineup, partnerships with local breweries, tickets capped at 2,000 and a true scene of devotees that returns year after year, NedFest continues to keep the mountain town’s homegrown musical legacy alive.
When festival founder "Michigan Mike" Torpie passed away in November 2011, there were a lot of doubts in the community about what was going to happen to NedFest. Eventually, a group of his friends and long-time festival volunteers got together and asked his family what they would like to do with the festival. The Torpie family did not want to make money from Mike's death so a non-profit organization named "Peak to Peak Music Education Association" was formed. The non-profit intends to help in the education of music for children. The Torpie family liked the idea and gave their blessings to continue NedFest.
This year, the festival features top headliners like a one-off performance from Keller Williams, Steve Kimock & Kyle Hollingsworth; the Jimmy Herring Band featuring the Widespread Panic guitarist and Jeff Sipe on drums; long-time festival favorite Melvin Seals and JBG and a yet-to-be-announced Grammy-winning band. Additionally, the festival continues it tradiotn of featuring top Colorado musicians. Kyle Hollingsworth Band featuring the String Cheese Incident keyboardist and drummer Dave Watts of The Motet; Great American Taxi featuring Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon; Yarn; Fox Street Allstars and many more are also featured.
A pair of late-night shows at the First Street Pub, which have become legendary over the years, also take place Friday and Saturday nights of the festival with top Boulder acts Jet Edison and Smooth Money Gesture."
Announced Lineup: Steve Kimock, Keller Williams and Kyle Hollingsworth • Special, Grammy-winning Headliner TBA • Jimmy Herring Band featuring Jeff Sipe • Melvin Seals and JBG • Kyle Hollingsworth Band featuring Dave Watts of The Motet • Great American Taxi featuring Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon • Hot Buttered Rum • New Monsoon • Yarn • Grant Farm • Fox Street Allstars • Fruition • Jeff Scroggins and Colorado • She Said String Band • The No Go Gillbillies • Magnolia Row • Danny Shafer • Whiskey Bottles • Blackdog • Jubal • Jaden Carlson • And More TBA
